A Portrait of Shunkin, written by Jun’ichirō Tanizaki, is considered a pinnacle of the author’s literary work.

While developing the cover, I revisited film adaptations of the novel. I selected the shamisen and flowers as key elements, imagining a quiet moment just after the musician has left, with a cup of warm tea still resting nearby. The composition seeks to convey the restrained emotion and lingering tenderness of the story.
