This essay collection by Shen Fuyu features woodblock prints by artist Li Xiaoguang, whose rustic yet vibrant imagery infuses the book with a sense of primal vitality.

I served as the book designer, overseeing the complete design of the publication, including the cover and selected interior illustrations, and worked closely with the author, editor, and woodcut print artist throughout the process.

Woodcut elements are fully integrated into the book’s visual language. The cover is composed of three layered woodcut images: a base layer of expressive carving marks, a bold woodcut title, and two lively titmice on the top layer. These elements are digitally combined and finished with debossing, subtly recreating the tactile, sculptural quality of traditional woodcut printing.
