Author Liu Liangcheng, often hailed as China’s “Village Philosopher,” is renowned for his nature writing. Several essays from this book are included in Chinese secondary school textbooks and are essential reading for students.

I illustrated the cover for the student edition. Inspired by the author’s poetic prose, I translated the vivid images it evoked into a series of small illustrations, which were later integrated into the final cover design.
